A Guide To Plastic Codes

What do those little numbers on the bottom of plastic bottles and containers mean? You see them all the time, but very few people know that they’re actually a numbered code that tells you exactly what kind of plastic was used to make that product.

Now, the average consumer might not care too much what their to go container is made of, but in the foodservice industry, that can be very important. Is that container safe for the microwave? Or will it melt at higher temperatures? Can that container be placed in the freezer? Or will that cause the plastic to crack? These are important questions. Luckily, PJP has the answers.
