Customer Snapshot: Celebrating food and community one plate at a time
At PJP, we’re committed to helping your business succeed. We’re not just a supplier of products. We consider ourselves educators, consultants, and specialists. We want to be a resource for you as a business owner. We want to do more than just sell you, we want to help you find the right solutions to the many problems you face on a daily basis. If we work together, we can succeed together.
We’re not just asking you to take our word for it. We’ve helped many of our amazing customers succeed in the last 50 years through our partnerships. Occasionally, we like to sit down with some of those customers and talk with them about what makes their business unique, what makes them a success, and how PJP has helped them get there. We call these sit downs a Customer Profile.
We want to introduce you to one of our amazing customers in Norristown, PA, Chef Keith Taylor of Chefsoul Culinary Productions and Zachary’s BBQ.
ABOUT CHEF KEITH TAYLOR
Chef Keith has a long history in the foodservice industry. He started Chefsoul Culinary Productions back in 1991 and has taken his brand from Manhattan to Disney World to the Meadowlands and now to Philadelphia. He started Zachary’s BBQ as an attempt to “pare down” his hectic life style, have a little bit more fun, and spend more time with his kids.
Zachary’s BBQ is Chef Keith’s way of celebrating his love of food and community one plate at a time. They make award-winning, wood-fired BBQ with the same family recipes his grandmother, Miss Doris Taylor, used for 75 years. Zachary’s also offers catering for all occasions. Anything from backyard picnics and graduations to corporate events and weddings.

SOUL FOOD
For as much as BBQ is the bread and butter of Zachary’s, what Chef Keith believes Zachary’s is all about is Soul Food. For Chef Keith, Soul food is the food of struggle, the food of the people. All comfort food, whether it be the mac n’ cheese and collard greens of the American South, or the pasta fagioli of the italian countryside, is born of the struggle of people who come from small means. When daily life is a struggle, and all you have is a meal to get you through that struggle to the next day, that’s where soul food comes from. It comes from people who manage to find amazing flavor even from the most meager beginnings.
This idea, the idea of struggle and history being important to remember when cooking, is important to Chef Keith. He takes this knowledge of where he came from, this sense of community with him into all of his work, and that extra bit of love and care really comes out in the food.
PARTNERSHIP WITH PJP
What Chef Keith likes most about his partnership with PJP is his personal relationship with his Sales Representative. Chef Keith knows, just as well as we do here at PJP, that real success is about more than just what products you sell, it’s about partnership, and working together to achieve our common goals. “Tom Cirino… is probably one of the best disposable paper and all-around reps that I’ve ever had in that genre of what I would normally buy from broad-line suppliers,” he said.
Chef Keith also went on to say that he loves buying from a company that has such a wide range of products to select from. Rather than have to go to a dozen different companies to buy, with PJP Chef Keith can do one-stop-shopping.
